The Operations department is headed up by The Director Dave Smith. Dave heads up all road maintenance operations, which includes paving, road repair, centerline painting, crack sealing, sealcoating, and snow plowing.
All Maintenance Area Superintendents, the Weigh Master/Utility Technician, and Sign Shop employees report to the Director of Operations.

The Jackson County Road Commission Sign Shop has three employees. They maintain over 25,000 signs throughout the County of Jackson. They also maintain State trunkline signs in Jackson County, excluding overhead signs.
The Jackson County Road Commission Sign Shop fabricates a majority of the signs used on the roadways of Jackson County. Each sign in Jackson county has a sign number for identification purposes. This number is recorded into a computer program for easy reference and location.
