The Director is responsible for logging permits, and reviewing them for proper
bonding insurance. Acts as a Liaison between contractors, suppliers, utility
companies, and the public to respond to issues regard projects that involve road
right of ways. He is responsible for dealing with issues regarding Traffic Signs,
Speed Limit Change requests, and requests for No Parking Zones. He is the Liaison
with local law enforcement agencies regarding crash reports, roadway signage,
construction zone enforcement, other traffic enforcement matters. He is responsible
for coordinating and the accountability of the Safety Policy activities within
the Jackson County Road Commission working environment.

The Jackson County Road Commission Sign Shop has three employees. They maintain
over 25,000 signs throughout the County of Jackson. They also maintain State
trunkline signs in Jackson County, excluding overhead signs.
The
Jackson County Road Commission Sign Shop fabricates a majority of the signs
used on the roadways of Jackson County. Each sign in Jackson county has
a sign number for identification purposes. This number is recorded into
a computer program for easy reference and location.
